Die You Zombie Bastards!

30 10 2009

Ce film vedeti de Halloween? Nu v-ati hotarat? Am eu cateva sugestii: ce parere aveti de Die You Zombie Bastards!? E un super film din 2005, notat pe imdb cu 4.8 si cu review-uri care spun cam asa: I feel like somebody took a handful of $hit and threw it at a movie screen!

Die You Zombie Bastards! (2005)

Straight and to the point, this one. There are zombies. They die, courtesy of a serial killer trying to rescue his wife in peril. You’ll be shocked to learn it’s a comedy.

Space Zombie Bingo (1993)

This one owes its title to a far-fletched plot about undead alien invaders. As far as we know nobody actually goes to the bingo. And yes, those are three exclamation marks.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988)

Rule number one: if you’re going to have a bad movie title, at least try and have the courtesy to spell it properly. Then again, if your movie is about alien clowns, does it actually matter?

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1988)

Ah, don’t you just love subtle movie titles? If you do, then you’re probably better off avoiding this particular B-movie – the title pretty much reveals the plot too.

Cannibal Women In The Avocado Jungle Of death (1989)

Not sure what an avocado jungle is exactly but all is explained in this elaborately-named 1989 effort. It’s actually a battle of the sexes action comedy. Complete with man-munching women.

Killer Condom: The Rubber That Rubs You Out (1997)

You can guess what you’re getting with this one – it’s a horror film about murderous condoms that go round ‘castrating’ their victims in a sleazy hotel. What happened to safe sex?

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Becam Mixed Up Zombies!!? (1964)

Possibly a contender for the most far-fetched film title of all time, although the memorable moniker is probably the best thing about this shambling sixties zombie fare.

Killer Tomatoes Eat France! (1991)

Ah, you can’t go wrong with a mutant vegetable movie. This franchise gained notoriety thanks to a sequel which featured one George Clooney in his pre-political, mullet-sporting years.

Si preferatele mele:

Polutrygeist: Night Of The Cicken Dead (2006)

You can always count on Troma to come up with weird and wonderful titles and here’s another one, for their 2006 mutant killer chicken movie. Anyone else hungry? Just us, then…

Kids Go To The Wood… Kids Get Dead (2009)

Innovative B-movie throwback to horror classics of old (complete with VHS tracking) about your typical teens in peril. Will they survive? Well… no, obviously not. Didn’t you see the title?

In ceea ce priveste posterele, nu-i asa ca sunt foarte tari?:

Rabid grannies (1988) – mai ales tag-line-ul

Possibly the oddest thing ever to come out of the Belgian film industry (Jean-Claude Van Damme excepted), this should appeal to you if spending time with demon old ladies is your idea of fun.

The Gingerdead Man 2: Passion Of The Crust (2008)

Not so much a longed-for sequel as an excuse for an awful pun. Really it’s just an excuse for a bunch of over-the-top gory mayhem featuring a large mutant biscuit. You have been warned.

Daca vreti sa vedeti vreunul, o faceti pe proprie raspundere. :P

Oh no, not that again!

4 09 2009

If you could permanently wipe one cliché—character, plot, anything—from the future of culture, what would it be?

  • The loyal, loving wife and mother who suddenly turns into a screaming shrew midway through the film, for the express purpose of trying to get her husband to drop the court case or stop chasing the criminal or stop investigating the evil corporate types or whatever. Some variation on the phrase “You’re tearing this family apart!” is often used.
  •  A family man whose wife and possibly children get killed, turning him into a stripped-down vengeance machine who has to hunt down and brutalize all the bad guys remotely responsible.
  • Making up for decades of shitty parenting with one grandiose, pointless gesture.
  • The family movie dilemma that pits Dad’s Big Meeting against his neglected kid’s Big School Concert/Play/Soccer Game/whatever. It requires audiences to feel that yes, it’s horribly unjust that someone would choose to preserve their career rather than jeopardizing it every time their kid is about to have a Kodak moment. :)
  • Character flipping vacantly through TV channels as shorthand for the emptiness and superficiality of consumerism and Western society. It’s an incredibly lazy, overly familiar way of establishing a character’s soul-sickness and disengagement from himself, nature, and the world around him. If characters are flipping glassy-eyed through increasingly ridiculous television shows and commercials in the film’s first 15 minutes, odds are good they’ll undergo a spiritual epiphany or two by the times the credits roll. :)
  • Judging by far too many movies, the small town is a bastion of serenity, an oasis away from the tormented, soul-crushing despair of your typical urban hellscape.
  • The college professor as stand-up comedian. If the professor is an actual protagonist in the story – someone we’re supposed to like – their lectures consist of them dropping pearls of wisdom, then undercutting those pearls with a quick joke, which invariably makes the whole class laugh knowingly.
  • “He wanted to leave the criminal world behind and go straight… after one last job.” Screw that. It’s just a weak, overused way of gaining audience sympathy for the main character in a heist film, as if the crime the thief is going to commit is okay, since he doesn’t really mean it.
  • Children being avatars for insight into the human condition? If you’ve ever seen a movie where Haley Joel Osment or Dakota Fanning soulfully implored the adults around them to be better people, you know exactly what I’m talking about. :)

Tanta lagrima, tanta lagrima,
y yo soy un vaso vacio…

Oigo una voz que me llama,
casi un suspiro:
¡Rema, rema, rema!
¡Rema, rema, rema!

En esta orilla del mundo
lo que nos es presa es baldio.
Creo que he visto una luz
al otro lado del rio.

Yo, muy serio, voy remando,
muy adentro y sonrio.
Creo que he visto una luz

Cateva filme sunt dragute, altele par chiar interesante. Eu vreau sa le vad pe urmatoarele:

  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine – Cum de ce? Pt Mr Hugh Jackman! :)
  • Drag Me to Hell – Pentru ca imi plac pointless horror movies. :D
  • Up - I’m allways up for animated movies!
  • The Proposal – Am cateodata chef de chick-flick. Si imi placea de Sandra Bullock.
  • Year One – Imi place vocea lui Michael Cera. There, I’ve said it!
  • Transformers 2 – I wanna see what all the fuss is about.
  • Ice Age 3 – Abia astept sa ii vad pe Sid, Diego, Manny si prea simpaticul Scrat.
  • Public Enemies – Johnny Depp si Christian Bale si povestea lui John Dillinger. Looking forward to it!

Pe urmatoarele probabil o sa le evit (desi you never know):

  • Next day Air – I don’t think so
  • The Hangover – A bachelor party gone wrong? Not exactly my style.
  • Dance Flick – Now, why would anybody wanna see a thing like that!?
  • Night at the Museum 2 – Nu l-am vazut pe primul, n-o sa il vad nici pe al doilea. Vorba lui Peter: ‘Oh, Ben Stiller. His movies are terrible!’
  • Land of the Lost – I just kinda hate Will Ferrell.

Cam atat imi pare important anul asta.

seven pounds

Trailer-ul nu spune multe: Will Smith are un plan: sa ajute 7 oameni.

I don’t have a problem with that.

P.S. Oh, and don’t get me started ’bout the way he chose to kill himself. That was just stupid.

Jeux d’enfants

5 01 2008

jeuxdenfants_be.jpg

Am vazut si eu, in sfarsit, Jeux d’enfants, un film care mi-a fost recomandat de mai multi prieteni care imi cunosc gusturile in materie de filme. “O sa iti placa”, mi-au spus toti.

Mi-a placut.

- revederea dupa 4 ani

Finalul in schimb m-a dezamagit.

If I was the director :P , as fi scris ‘fin’ exact dupa scena in care Sophie s-a intors la spital, intalnindu-se cu Julien. Acea imagine, ei doi fata in fata, ploaia, rochia ei rosie, ceilalti doi privindu-i, el cantand ‘La Vie en Rose’ – mi se pare perfecta pentru sfarsit.

But it’s just me, nu-mi plac povestile spuse pana la capat. [By the way: am publicat o mica povestire la Povesti decupate]
